Earl was a founder member of the Network for Black Managers (NbM) which was set up in 1998 to address the under representation of black staff within the Further Education sector, with special reference to the small number of black managers, and principals. He is also the vice chairperson for the NbM’s national quality and curriculum forum which aims to support aspiring and current black managers in senior positions to be successful through immediate access to qualitative information and a team of experienced black senior managers.
Earl is firmly committed to the principle of utilising education and training as a vehicle to support personal, social and economic regeneration.
Earl’s parents came to England from St Elizabeth, Jamaica in 1960 and have remained members of the Wolverhampton community.
Within the educational sector, the workforce must reflect the diversity of society. We need more Black managers, at all levels, and more Black Principals. We must meet the challenges set by the Commission for Black Staff in Further Education.
