Accredited by The Institute of Leadership and Management: Level 5 Award & Certificate in Leadership & Management with possible progression to Diploma

Programme Overview & Values

This programme gives practising or aspiring middle managers the foundation for formal development in their role as Leaders of Tomorrow by developing basic leadership and management skills. It will benefit a wide range of black professionals working in a number of sectors including schools, colleges, the voluntary and community sector and local government. Being delivered in the context of a ‘positive action’ development framework, the programme model builds on the experiences, networks, aspirations and talents of BME professionals. Participants are required to collaborate, give mutual respect and support and share experiences and expertise; success is celebrated and shared amongst the learning community. The programme is underpinned by the values of Ubuntu, described by Desmond Tutu as the “...essence of being human...the fact that my humanity is caught up and is inextricably bound up in yours.”

Who will Benefit from the Programme?

Participants should be in junior or middle management roles or who are likely to do so in the near future. They may have been exposed to some formal management or leadership development whether accredited or unaccredited and possibly delivered as part of an in-house organisational development programme.
